How Can I Help?
Let me help your child feel like themselves again
I know from experience how hard it can be to find mental health support for children and young people when they need it most. It can be a lot like hitting a series of brick walls and feeling powerless. It’s why I became a counsellor and why I work with young people.
I offer a private and confidential counselling service for children (age 7+), adolescents and young adults suffering from emotional and behavioural difficulties. I can work face-to-face at my therapy space in central Reading, Berkshire. Or online by video or telephone.
As an experienced therapist, I support children and young people through any difficulties they bring to the sessions, no matter how big or small.
I am qualified to masters level as a Children and Young Person counsellor, registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I adhere to their Ethical Framework. I have also been Enhanced DBS checked.
How can counselling help children and young people?
I use child-friendly and age-appropriate therapy techniques to help my young clients learn how to handle big feelings, overcome fears and adapt to changes or tough periods in life. Therapy techniques might include games, books, art and craft activities, and of course talking and listening.
It’s essential that we build trust so that my young clients can feel comfortable sharing feelings, in this way we can work to uncover difficult emotions, discover any underlying causes and triggers and develop coping strategies that will help them understand and channel their feelings in more productive ways.
Every child and young person is unique and so is every therapy session. I tailor my therapy to each young client’s individual needs in order to achieve the best outcomes for that child. Therapy with me is open ended and reviewed periodically as we go along; there’s no limit to the number of sessions and my clients stay with me as long as they need to.
